NoppDropp!

thenopp drops Wally for Anthony Carter

Wally Szczerbiak is a sharpshooter in decline. He played sparingly in CLE's first two games, but has edged up to 20 MPG lately. He's never offered much more than 3s (a few rebounds in his heyday), and this year, it seems, he'll provide even less. 3 point guys hang around a long time, and Wally may have a stretch of hotness left in him, but he hasn't looked good in CLE.

We've spoken of Anthony Carter previously, but his circumstances have materially changed, given the arrival of Chauncey Billups. AC has had a nice week, but with Billups playing his first Nugget game tomorrow, we may not see much of Carter going forward.

Judgment: Certainly losing Wally is no great loss, but I don't think AC will be very useful for thenopp. He will likely be dropped soon, unless he is able to coexist surprisingly well with C-Bill

Millsap dons the Hosen

Hosen drop A. Carter, pick up Millsap

Anthony Carter Millsap

We've discussed Carter and Millsap, so there's no need to repeat. However, the crucial point here is that Carter appears to have lost significant value with the trade of AI for Chauncey. AI has mostly been playing SG in Denver, while Chauncey is a pure PG. What will also be interesting to watch is whether the half-court offense of Detroit becomes more open with AI at the helm, and whether Denver's wide open offense (and no defense) changes with Chauncey running the point.

Judgment: Great move by the Hosen. Millsap is a beast, when he's given minutes and isn't in foul trouble, and Carter, though he has been productive, looks to lose a lot of minutes. Moreover, the Hosen need bigman stats more than smallman stats at this point.

Another Move!

Later Hosen drop Michael Finley for Anthony Carter

Michael Finley's, the Hosen's 18th round pick, has been a fantasy stalwart for years, a low-negative, across the board contributor. In his best year, he averaged 22/6/5...but that was 1999. In his heydey, he was a good steal man as well. Finley is now 35, and averaged 10/3/1.5 last year in a pseudo-sixth man type of role. Some have predicted a slight uptick in his numbers with Manu out for a while, but it's unclear if his aging legs will generate more than 11/3/1.5 3s.

Anthony Carter is supposedly the starting PG for the Nuggets. He averaged 8 PTS, 5 AST, and 3 REBs last year, by far his best. At 33, Carter is no spring chicken himself, and though he occasionally has a breakout 21/5/11 line, there's a lot of 7/2/3's in his past.

Judgment: We might be missing something (the Hosen should comment if we are!), but we don't see the 'point' - the Hosen are giving up PTS and 3s to get a few assists and steals. While it's true that they don't need the 3s, they also don't really need assists. Finley may end up on a roster sooner rather than 'Later'.
